What do J-LO, Jennifer Anniston and Madonna have in common? Great hair: check. Great teeth: check. Great talent: check. Age-defying skin: double-check. Yes, they all look amazing for their age – and in order to look this amazing, they have all taken to the salon and embarked on a course of facials. But not just any old scrub and mask affair; they are all self-confessed fans of the unique, science-led, anti-aging CACI facial. In fact, J-LO is so enamored with the way this incredible game-changing machine that she even bought one for her home.

I am going to add myself to this list, not because I think I look amazing for my age… (Oh but please feel free to interject and tell me that I do J) but because I am also a CACI super-fan – and here’s why.

Mother Nature loves to deplete us of our coveted collagen once we hit our 30’s and 40’s and subsequently millions of women have literally decided to freeze themselves in time, injecting the poison botulism into their faces. As my followers will know, I am not a fan of the Big B and so I embarked on a worldwide hunt to find great alternatives; not necessarily to ‘turn back the clock’, but to preserve the integrity of my skin and it’s appearance. I wanted to find ways that I could maintain good youthful-looking skin that can help us to look good without surgical enhancements. Ageing gracefully is the key to looking well in your later years. The helping hand that I found was CACI, and it’s been my skin’s saviour. I was introduced to the machine almost 5 years ago and have been deeply in love ever since.

So what is it?

CACI, which stands for Computer-Aided Cosmetology Instrument, is fast becoming the most sought after alternative to invasive needles and surgery. It is called the Non-Surgical Face Lift because; it is just that – lifting the face without a surgeon, needle or knife in sight. It is 100% non-invasive with absolutely no downtime; in fact, you will look positively plumped and glowing after a session.

The technology is based on tiny electrical impulses delivered to the face that lift and tone the facial muscles, whilst improving the elasticity of the skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The electrical currents get deep down under the skin and target collagen directly.

Think about when you are working out at the gym. You go a few times a week to keep your muscles toned and lean using weights and certain exercises, right? But when do you get to do that for your face? You don’t. And that is where CACI technology is positively genius. It re-trains the muscles in your face, just as you would your body in the gym and it re-educates the muscles producing a tightening, toning and lifting effect.

The treatment itself is just like a relaxing facial and involves a qualified CACI technician using two electric wands working in upwards motions on the face. One of the wands is positive and the other is negative, and it is these ‘wands’ that tighten and tone muscles in the face (and more recently the belly and bum – more on that later)

Advanced CACI technology can also be combined with LED light therapy that penetrates the skin and this, combined with micro-current facial toning, regenerates skin tissue and helps to repair collagen. It is recommended to start with a course of eight to ten CACI facials, (you will start to see results pretty quickly) and then you need to keep topping up your muscles once every month or two which is called the ‘maintenance’ phase. In the same way that you continue to work out at the gym for your body, the same goes for your face; you need to maintain the muscle memory to keep it lifted and perky.

And speaking of perky… Cue BUM CACI!

I have also been having CACI treatment on my bottom. I began primarily because I have an injury in my hip and therefore have had to abstain from lifting weights, or doing any squats for my Gluteus Maximus (bum cheeks for short). The technology for this is primarily the same as the face, albeit larger machines. The treatment starts off with a session of EMS (electro muscular stimulation). Electric impulses are generated by a special device and are transmitted to the skin by electrodes, carefully positioned and placed directly over the group of muscles to be stimulated (in this case my bottom cheeks) by a qualified CACI technician. The electrical impulses make the muscles contract; similar to the way the muscles actually move during a serious muscular workout.

EMS is not a unique concept; think back to the old days when you’d see those corny commercials that advertised machines that made your muscles contract. They looked too good to be true, these magical fitness devices that promised to completely change your body in a matter of weeks. As corny as these ads and machines looked, they really were ahead of their time when it came to the basic technology surrounding them but unfortunately for them, the technology wasn’t quite up to scratch then. CACI International has taken the same technology and has upgraded it to keep up with the times.

The EMS part of the process lifts and tone muscles on the body, albeit the bum or the abs. Some might use this simply for aesthetics, some for a lazy workout, others for cellulite reduction (which is a welcome side effect of the treatment). For me, I used it as a strong workout because of my injury. In fact, professional athletes use this technology wearing EMS suits while working out – because this method serves to increase the muscle stimulation on a deeper level, meaning shorter workouts can be performed with deeper penetration.

The results are pretty fantastic, and you will notice a lift in your bum cheeks and the shape of your bottom will change too. There is nothing scary about CACI; no needles are used, no knives are in sight, no blood, sweat or tears are shed, and yet a course will take years off your face, stomach or bum. CACI, on behalf of saggy skin everywhere, I salute you.
